Eucnemidae (Coleoptera: Elateroidea) is a moderately large group occurs all over the world, especially in the tropical and subtropical regions. The common name “False Click Beetle” had been used to differentiate it from the click beetles (Elateridae). Its larvae are predominately mycetophagous, feeding on fungal mycelia and hyphae present on the decaying wood. They play a positive role in maintaining forest ecosystems. Because of their morphology is very similar to some other taxa of Elateroidea, there had been many controversy opinions in the classification system of Eucnemidae in history. This paper gives an overview of the taxonomic work on Eucnemidae.
