Abstract:In this study, we used Arabidopsis model plant of wild-type and tyrosine pathway-deficient mutant sscd1 in the last step as the experimental materials, analyzed the effect of homogentisate on the synthesis of anthocyanin with the treatment of exogenous homogentisate. The results showed that the exogenous homogentisate could induce anthocyanin accumulation, the accumulation of mutant sscd1 was more significant. Furthermore, the expression of anthocyanin synthesis was analyzed by qRT-PCR. The results showed that homogentisate could promote the expression of upstream genes PAL, CHI, CHS and downstream genes DFR, LDOX, UF3GT of anthocyanin biosynthesis, similarly, the gene expression insscd1 mutants was up–regulated more. The above results indicated that: the treatment of homogentisate activated the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway and lead to anthocyanin accumulation. Defects in the final step of the tyrosine degradation pathway could increase the biosynthesis ofanthocyanin which induced by homogentisate.
