Abstract:The rice mutant (CA648) with a T-DNA insertion and a wild-type rice of Zhonghua 11 (ZH11) were used to analyze the agronomic and molecular traits in this paper. Compared with ZH11, CA648 displayed a phenotype of dwarfism, multi-tillering and late flowering. In the F2 population, the ratio of thenormal plants to the semi-dwarfing or dwarfing plants was approximately 1∶3. All of the plants resistant to Basta in F2 population were short and multi-tillering. Furthermore, the ratio of non-resistant strains to resistant strains in F2 population is 1∶3. Thermal asymmetric interlaced (TAIL)-PCR analysis and bioinformatics analysis showed that the T-DNA was inserted in the 8th chromosome of an function unknown gene LOC_Os08g34258, which encodes a protein with the function similar to proteins of the subtilisin inhibitor family.
