50 varieties of Tulipa gesneriana were observed in the Hunan Forest Botanical Garden, The results showed: 1) Most varieties of Tulipa gesneriana began to take root 10 days after planting, and all varieties of Tulipa gesneriana took root 14 days after planting. Most roots were 2～4 cm long. 2) All varieties except 2 late flowering varieties of Tulipa gesneriana could normally blossom, and their florescence concentrated in mid-March to early April, lasted 10-20 days long respectively; the difference of florescence between early flowering varieties and late flowering varieties was about 20 days and the florescence could last about 40 days long. 3) The florescence of Tulipa gesneriana was obviously affected by temperature. The florescence of the late flowering varieties generally lasted 2-3 days longer than the early flowering varieties, for the temperature were lower than 25℃ all the time or lower than 20℃ and rainy most of the time when the late flowering varieties blossomed.
