It is the first time to study the karyotype and G-binding of the Pallisentis (Neosentis) celatus in the Monopterus albus by using air drying method and pancreatin digestion. Results: The karyotype of Pallisentis (Neosentis) celatus consists of three autosomal biarmed chromosomes and two X chromosomes in females or one X and one Y in males. There are three pairs metacentric chromosomes, NO1, NO3 and X chromosome. NO2 are submetacentric. The Y is the only telocentric chromosome. The sex determining mechanism is of the XX-XY type. Every pair of chromosomes had their characteristic G-banding pattern. And this paper will be useful for the cell genetics and taxonomy of Pallisentis (Neosentis) celatus.
